After Dark is a book about two sisters one night. One of the sisters spends most of the time during the book asleep with a television on. The other sister sits in restaurants, interprets for a beaten Chinese prostitute, talks to somebody about various bits of trivia, and feeds some cats. By the end of the book, very little of any interest has happened, we have no idea what happened or why it happened.
The translation is marred by exceedingly unnatural dialogue.
