This is a synopsis of the autobiographical book "Aoi Toki" by Japanese singer Momoe Yamaguchi.
The book consists of a foreword, "Yokosuka", about the city where Momoe grew up, six chapters, "Birth" about her upbringing, "Sex", "Court" about a court case for defamation, "Marriage", "Retirement", and "Miscellaneous thoughts", about a hundred pages of short essays, followed by an afterword "Now, Aoi Toki", explaining the book's title and why she wrote it.
In the chapter on "retirement", Momoe says that she wants to retire to devote all her time to Tomokazu Miura, so that, for example, if he catches a cold, she will be able to be at home for him.
In the final chapter of the book, Momoe writes about "Star Tanjo", the TV programme which made her famous, "Inferiority complex", about her feelings of inadequacy due to not being able to express emotions well, "Numbers", about her lucky numbers, "A girl" about a girl who tried to give her flowers at a concert; "Songs", "Newspaper delivery", where she debunks the myth of her delivering newspapers in order to help her family finances; "Predictions", "Makeup", where she discusses her dislike of wearing makeup; "Applause", "Dreams", "Colours", "Hair", about her hairstyles, particularly about trouble she had at school for getting a perm, and also people's negative reactions to a perm she got later on; "Jealousy"; "Death"; "Younger sister"; "Being special"; and "The sea".
