The School of Rock (2003)

Is it a comedy?

Jack Black is a teacher teaching kids how to "rock and roll".

Rock music is officially no longer the music of rebellious youths, but now the music which the teacher teaches in school.

Jack Black is perfectly capable of playing the part of a normal human being as we saw in "The Holiday", but here he is in full-blown face-pulling mode. There must be a lot of people out there who enjoy seeing Jack Black make exaggerated facial expressions, since he comes back for movie after movie doing his same old thing. I don't find it very entertaining though.

The only way for me to work out that this is a comedy is by seeing the word "comedy" applied to it, it seems more like a masterful demonstration of someone's ability to pull exaggerated faces and make ludicrous gestures for no apparent reason to me.

Truly unbearable.
