Errata for Spivak Combined Answer Book for Calculus
This page is a list of errors I found in the book Combined Answer Book For Calculus Third and Fourth Editions by Michael Spivak.
Page 92, line 6: After (viii), \(1-1/2\) should be \(1+1/2\).
Page 97, line 5: \(\alpha > \sqrt{2}\) should be \(\alpha \geq \sqrt{2}\).
Page 97, line 7 and 8: \([-1+\sqrt{5}]/2\) should be \([-1-\sqrt{5}]/2\) in both second columns.
Page 234, line 3: form should be for.
Page 381, line -9: The expression \(\sqrt{x^2}-\sqrt{x^2+\frac1{n^2}}\) is negative, but in the next line it is made equal to a positive. There may be some absolute value signs missing, or Spivak may have put \(f_n\) and \(f\) the wrong way around. (This error also occurs in the answer book for the third edition on page 370.)
Page 382, line 9, 10: As with the error on page 381, the first equation in the answer for (v) is actually negative, it appears that absolute value signs are missing. (This error also occurs in the answer book for the third edition on page 371.)
