The problem with Stallone is that I start hoping that he'll be defeated. I think the reason they always have such incredibly nasty and evil people against him (Drago in Rocky 4, all the cast of Cliff Hanger, the "nasty" police in First Blood, all the murderous enemies in the Rambo series, civilian-killing James Woods in The Specialist, the serial killer cult in Cobra) is that if the villains aren't incredibly awful you end up hoping that they'll win and "Sly" will get beaten.
Escape from prison is usually a good plot notion (Shawshank, Escape from Alcatraz) but Sly makes it seem too easy and almost like it's a boring day job type of thing.
Anyway for me this was pretty uninteresting, although like all Sly movies at least the main character does have some panache.
