Operation Crossbow (1965)

Weak, poorly-structured war film

The film concerns the V1 and V2 rocket attacks on London by German forces in World War 2 and some fictional spies who penetrated the German operation.

It's not very well structured, almost as if two different stories have been spliced together.

At the end of the film there is some hokum about opening up a launch bay, followed by launching the missile, followed by bombs dropping and blowing up the site.

Sophia Loren is top-billed but her only contribution is a totally distracting scene where she seems to have been under contractual obligation to utter a certain number of words. She contributes exactly nothing to the plot of the film, and notice that the George Peppard character has a quite good photo of her on his mantelpiece, but despite that he cannot recognise her. Also how does she even know that he's at the hotel?

This could have been a good film if it had focussed.
