The Aviator (2004)

Leo hams it up & Marty adds the cheese

Leo might want to change from acting to selling cured pork products, since judging from this "masterpiece" he's already in the ham business.

I watched this without really registering that Scorsese was the director, so I was quite baffled by the high rating for a moment. A lot of people on IMDB rate based on the director rather than the content of the film. I would go as far as to call this story quite cheesy.

So it's a sort of ham and cheese sandwich.

On top of that, the CGI nature of the flying scenes is made annoyingly obvious, with all the swinging around Leo and his camera. Please see Capricorn One (1977) for good aerial scenes without the CGI.

My final query. What is the story that Scorsese really wanted to tell about Hughes? I don't see a complete story, but more a collection of various scenes from the life of Hughes.
