Elysium (2013)

Biff-ups in space

Matt Damon is part of some kind of MS-13 style gangland organisation, and he's stuck on Planet Earth, but all the goodies like magic cure-it-alls are up in space on large space vessel. Damon must save himself and the kid with leukemia by boosting her up in space, but to do this he has to undergo some biff-ups with that guy from Prison Break and then a latter-day version of Bennett from Commando, a South African who has a violent streak. There is also Jodie Foster with a British-y accent to contend with, she doesn't want those dirty earthlings on her nice clean space station.

After getting fried in some kind of factory, Damon has only a few days left to live unless he can make it to the magic space station, so he agrees to a dangerous mission involving a super-suit. That's the start of the biff-ups and mortal combat which goes on right to the end of the film.

It seems to be some kind of allegory about inequality, with Damon and co representing Mexicans, Jodie Foster a kind of Trump-a-like who wants to "Build the Wall".

Honestly I could not quite understand why the meanies in space were so unwilling to share their health-giving technology with the lowly earthlings, but it was a fine excuse for a biff-up I suppose.
