Miss Congeniality (2000)

Grotesquely awful

"Miss Congeniality" stars Sandra Bullock as some kind of policewoman who has to go undercover as a contestant at a beauty contest.

It's quite grotesque in my opinion. When she is "being herself" at the start of the film she is like some kind of ridiculous parody of a hot-dog chewing, gun-obsessed nitwit American policewoman, then suddenly we are supposed to be astonished as her beauty is revealed, except that she looks about the same as a contestant, and at 36 she is about twice the age of most beauty contestants.

It's like watching Judd Nelson in the Breakfast Club where you just wonder why someone in his late twenties is attending High School USA.

We have lots of "funny" scenes where Michael Caine teaches etiquette, the whole thing is just absolutely unbearable.
