Little Voice (1998)

Are sing-a-likes really so popular?

Yes she does do good impersonations of other singers.

It's a bit hard to believe that people will turn out in droves to see an everyday woman doing a fairly good impersonation of Shirley Bassey singing "Goldfinger" or something like that. I just don't know of any cases where someone who just impersonates other singers becomes popular for doing so.

Most of the time impersonators mimic others in order to ridicule them. There are some tribute bands like tribute ABBA or tribute Beatles or Elvis impersonators, but I don't think people really turn out in droves for that.

So I was a bit lost watching this, wondering what was supposed to be happening.
