Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a man who has been brainwashed by machines so that he doesn't know who he is any more, sent by past self to journey to Mars.
It's quite a good thriller but it has too much gruesome-yet-silly violence, as Arnold and company kill off vast numbers using various improvised weapons.
There are some great highlights with Sharon Stone as Arnold's wife, trying to kill him, and the scene where Arnold pulls a probe out of his head. I'm not sure why but the probe is inside a ping-pong ball which is much larger than it needs to be, and Arnold has to pull that out of his nose. More gruesomeness?
It's quite a good story but I think it would have been better toned down quite a lot. The effects were impressive at the time but look very dated in 2021.
