The Rhythm Section (2020)

Fairly good Leon-a-like

Thriller about assassination due to revenge. Good acting, ok script, nice locations, not too bad.

The plot is basically that of "Leon", and some of the scenes are even the same. Jude Law plays Leon and Blake Lively is the Natalie Portman character.

There is some nice scenery in Scotland and nice photography generally, but the camera work during the car chase is pretty odd. The car spins, and then the camera rotates from the window to the woman's face. Both are spinning anticlockwise, so it's rather disorienting.

In my opinion, the movie gods should punish filmmakers who use the "revenge for family being killed" plot cliche by forcing them to listen to Alexei Sayle singing "Didn't you kill my brother" on an endless loop, for at least twenty-four hours for each family member for which revenge is sought.

As for realism, it's almost impossible to imagine that an air crash could be faked like this. Air crashes are investigated very thoroughly and publicly, so the premise of a bombing being covered up for some reason is completely unrealistic.
