Against All Odds (1984)

Goes downhill as soon as Rachel Ward appears

Jeff Bridges is a washed up, embittered athlete hired to track down an heiress in Mexico.

There are some good scenes in the set up part of the film with Bridges and James Woods, and the story should be intriguing, but the huge problem with the film is that the top-billed star, Rachel Ward, playing the heiress, seems to have been chosen solely for looks. She does an awful job in this role, so the scenes with her in it go downhill.

The story also nosedives as Bridges goes from being reasonably savvy to extremely silly.
