Seven Years in Tibet (1997)

Much better than I thought it would be

It was quite an interesting film about two Austrian climbers who get stuck in Tibet after escaping from a prison camp during the second world war. Brad Pitt gives a good performance as a climber who starts off unbearable and ends up improving himself.

I haven't read the book but parts of this obviously strain credulity. It is supposedly based on a true story but clearly liberties have been taken.

It's a quite nice, entertaining film, which probably would be better if it had left out a lot of the politics and war stuff at the end and just stuck to the main character's story.
