The Siege of Jadotville (2016)

Interesting story let down by bad script

The interesting story of the Irish army's defence of an African outpost against an overwhelming number of attackers. Quite similar to "Zulu".

It sounds like it would be good but it isn't. The battle scenes are done very well but the dialogue, the script, is just war movie cliches, cliches which were old hat when the events of this film took place in 1961.

None of the characters, including the leads, comes to life, everything is done with the eye on the cliched war movie stuff rather than portraying any genuine human emotions.

Still it's interesting enough to find out about these events.

Since most people probably have some idea what UN peacekeepers do, the film would probably be better if most of the "historical context" scenes involving various historical figures were just completely removed.
