The Long Goodbye (1973)

Dreadful non-thriller

Private detective Philip Marlowe is hired to find missing man Terry Lennox.

It's based on a book by Raymond Chandler but updated to the 1970s.

This film really did not do anything for me and it's not even clear what the story actually is. It just seems to meander to a conclusion. A stupid-but-beautiful woman gets cut in the face for no reason, then she gets cosmetic surgery to repair the damage.

A spoiler, but we don't even find out whether Marlowe was able to retrieve his cat by the end of this film.

What was the point of all this?
