Taking Lives (2004)

Same old story

Angelina Jolie is a super-duper FBI crime solver who gets involved with serial killer.

As usual with movie serial killers, and as has never actually happened in real life, the killer decides that rather than killing random people, they have to obsessively try to kill a certain FBI agent or another, and here we have our plot line, yet again.

And the killer has to escape via a carnival, the FBI agent has to have "issues", there is a sequence where the agent is walking around a dark room holding a gun and a torch and then something "unexpected" happens, and so on and so on.

Presumably there is some kind of card index file or script story bank where the people who make these films just shuffle a few of the same old plot elements, hire a few of the same old actors, put it all together with a few of the same old cliches, and what do you know? You've got "Taking Lives".
