I completely failed to understand the premise. Why would millions of people want to watch mundane details of someone's life on television? Why would lots more people make a huge effort in time and money to deceive that one person, in order to make a record of the mundane details of his life? And then why would people obsess over the details of his life?
Sorry, I have no idea what this is.
The best I can imagine is that it represents people's narcissistic fantasies about being the centre of attention as they do mundane things.
