Kramer vs. Kramer (1979)

Sort of OK

It's not too bad a film, moderately entertaining in parts.

There is a lot of wish-fulfilment and fantasising in the film I think. It won't really teach anyone much about divorce or child custody cases. The story is a little nonsensical, from Dustin making a total mess of cooking to becoming an expert cook, his job-related problems as the child care becomes overwhelming.

In the middle of the film, the irresponsible wife who ran out on him and the child then has suddenly become a highly-paid swimwear designer, and the custody is awarded to the wife for some reason after she abandoned the child.

It's meant to be a tear-jerker but it's too unbelievable for that.

Unfortunately the child who plays the son wasn't really able to act very well, but Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep do quite a good job.
