Shepherds and Butchers (2016)

Points of view on capital punishment

It's a film about a prison warder who is driven to the point of murdering due to his job involving executing prisoners.

It's set in South Africa during the Apartheid era but that isn't the core theme of the film. The prisoners being executed are killed for crimes such as murders.

It presents some graphic details of the executions, and it puts both sides of the argument for and against capital punishment.

The cast led by Steve Coogan is very strong and the film is very well made to the point of being quite disturbing.

I'm not sure how much of this is actually based on a true story as it claims to be, it would be interesting to know.
