Eddie Murphy is a stage-struck policeman and Robert De Niro is a down-to-earth professional policeman. A raft of coincidences brings this comically mismatched duo together and they are combined to make a television show, and hilarity ensues, or doesn't.
The whole thing is laid on with such a thick brush that it rapidly becomes tedious, we've seen Robert De Niro playing exactly the same type of person in so many other films like Meet the Fockers or Midnight Run that it's getting a little bit tedious to watch, and we have to assume that De Niro is doing these parts for the money since they don't exactly stretch his acting abilities. Eddie Murphy does his same old "larger than life" wise-cracking smart aleck yet foolish he has done so many times before, and the setup of the picture is just ridiculous.
