Midnight Run (1988)

Well-made buddy-buddy comedy

"Bounty hunter" Robert De Niro has to transport some guy somewhere or another for some sort of reason, and lots of antics and deceitful episodes ensue as they journey across America.

It is well made, quite funny, Robert De Niro is basically sleepwalking through this part but he's still good, and the other actor, who I don't think I've seen except for this film, is also good. The chemistry works well.

The plot is the ordinary sort of stuff which happens in this sort of film, I think I've seen this two or three times now and I still enjoyed watching it.

The musical theme is too repetitive and overdone, every time something happens, exactly the same theme starts, until it becomes annoying.

The ending is a little too syrupy but I suppose it wraps things up nicely. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel where Bobby D has actually started his fabled coffee shop.
