No Country for Old Men (2007)

What is it that people like about this film?

It sort of starts off pretty well, with a man coming across the aftermath of some kind of massacre where a drug deal or something similar went wrong. There was lots of potential for different things to happen after that.

But next we are transported to fantasy island, a place completely detached from reality, where someone can go around killing strangers as he pleases, and the police don't seem to give a hoot about it. What's more he just walks up to people with some kind of animal-stunning device and kills them with it.

We're also "treated" to some remarkably boring conversations from Tommy Lee Jones about coffee or something, some tomfoolery with ventilation shafts, a car accident, what is this actually? Is there a plot somewhere which I missed?

Apparently it's a "great performance" from Javier Bardim. OK. Can you tell me where the great performance is, I seem to have missed that part? I just saw the "idiot with stun gun walks around the place killing random people" part. What a great performance, you could replace him with a cardboard cutout and nobody would notice.
