Commando (1985)

A stealthy fighter

John Matrix is a commando, a stealthy man who puts dark green make up on his face before walking along the roof, silhouetted against the blue sky, in order to disguise himself. He's also a crack marksman, unlike his opponents, and he can hit lots of targets with a machine gun held in one hand, without bothering with such details as looking along the sights of the gun. He's also very strong and can rip a seat out of a car as if it was made from cardboard.

Like most commandos, he has a huge collection of weapons hidden in his dwelling. This comes in handy every time someone kidnaps his daughter to force him to assassinate a leader in a foreign country. Because nobody is as good at assassinating foreign leaders as a commando like Matrix. Not even Bennett is up for the job.

But Matrix is not satisfied with the terms of his employment. He leaves the aeroplane by an unauthorised exit, and then mayhem ensues, including dropping people off cliffs, walking along the roof with a machine gun, and a final "mano a mano" fight with absurd villain Bennett, ending with Bennett letting off some steam.

Competing with Stallone's Cobra, this is probably the most ridiculous and hokey action film of the 1980s, what saves it is that it is played with a straight face, something like an action soap opera, and the "one-liners".
