The Wicker Man (1973)

Low-budget tosh

It's a low budget film which is quite inconsequential and forgettable, with a silly surprise ending.

Christopher Lee was not a great actor, more of a one-trick pony who could do about two different things, "charming but sinister" or "sinister". Lee saying this is the greatest British film ever made is hardly a convincing argument, since he appears in it.

I'm not interested enough in this picture to go back to it again to try to work out why people have reviewed it so highly. I'd already heard very high opinions of this film when I first watched it, and I was aghast as the low-budget tosh appeared before my eyes, in great contrast to what I'd been told I would see.
