Saturday Night Fever (1977)

Entertaining enough but it's going nowhere, it's going nowhere fast

It's sort of entertaining but doesn't really go anywhere. For example there is a whole segment about Travolta's brother deciding to leave the priesthood, but it seems pointless really, why does this character appear in the film, turn up in the nightclub, then just disappear again, exactly?

There are scenes of them clowning on the bridge then near the end suddenly the clowning goes wrong and somebody dies, for some reason or another.

Tony starts a fight with another group, then he thinks he might have got things wrong, then everyone starts gesticulating and what have you.

Then at the end Tony is confronted about whether he can be friends with a girl. Can Tony be friends with a girl, or will he have to stick to shaking paint? I don't know the answer, and the film seems quite pointless.

But I quite like the film anyway.
