Tidying Up with Marie Kondo (2019-2019)

Difficult to care

I find it rather difficult to care about how tidy other people's homes are.

There is a big focus on the people's "story" like they are still regarded as students by their parents due to not tidying their DVD collection, or how they moved from a big house to a small apartment, or their husband died and now they have to tidy up his stuff. So we see a lot of this story thing but the story isn't very interesting.

The actual work which the pint-sized star of the show does is relatively small, she says a few things like what order to tidy things up in and throws in some Japanese words like "komono", which literally means "small things" in Japanese, and she gives you some hints for tidying but that seems to be secondary to the people's backstories, or finding out about how they feel about their house being more tidy than it was.

It's quite difficult to find these people's back stories and feelings upon tidying their house very interesting or to relate to them at all, so I didn't enjoy watching this much. It would have been more interesting if they'd focussed more on the tidying the house part.
